WEMO Week 4

Football fans know that one recipe to victory is win the turnover battle.  If you do that, you win most of your games.  The Kansas City Chiefs were horrible in the turnover margin last year and posted 2 wins to show for it.  They have yet to turn the ball over this year, winning each games’ margin, and have begun the year 3-0.  That turnover margin tells the primary storyline of the Prepcasts-KCMW game of the week as the Osceola Indians ventured to Drexel to take on the newly minted #10 Bobcats in a key WEMO clash.  After a back-and-forth field position struggle early, the Indians punched the first score across to take the early lead.  They immediately cashed an interception, the first of five Bobcat turnovers, into an additional score to lead 14-0.
Drexel would strike back quickly to scissor the lead down to 14-8 after Tyler Allen took in a touchdown run and a two-point conversion, but despite having multiple opportunities, the Cats would never draw closer than that six point edge.  Osceola marched down the field to regain a two touch advantage they took to the locker room, and would see additional turnovers equal more second half points and more futile Drexel drives, as the Indians pulled away to win 37-14.  The win pushes both teams to 3-1 overall.  Junior QB Driston Self was the Sonic Drive-In player of the game rushing for three touchdowns and snagging two interceptions from the defensive backfield.
In other WEMO clashes, the Midway Vikings dominated the Appleton City Bulldogs 42-0 pitching their second shutout of the young season.  Midway hosts Drexel next week in a game that could solidify the Vikes well atop the WEMO standings.  The Rich Hill Tigers hosted the Adrian Blackhawks in an effort.to continue their ascension in the league.  However, the Blackhawks rebounded from consecutive losses to run away from Rich Hill after a scoreless first quarter.  Adrian’s 43-7 win evens their record at 2-2, mimicking that of the Tigers.
After four weeks, the WEMO standings shake out as follows: Midway 4-0, 4-0 – Drexel 3-1, 3-1 –  Osceola 3-1, 2-1 –  Rich Hill 2-2, 2-1  – Adrian 2-2, 1-2 – Archie 0-4, 0-3 – Appleton City 0-4, 0-3
Next week’s Prepcasts-KCMW game of the week features a non-conference clash between the Appleton City Bulldogs, still searching for their first win, as they travel to meet the top-ten ranked Skyline Tigers. – Click here for the game
