into the game and went on to a 78-8 victory over Herculaneum (2-5)
Friday night.

The Warriors Jr. FB Tristan Huck and Nick Oberle each scored 3
touchdowns and Sr. QB Connor Basler threw 5 more TD passes as Valle led
64-8 at the half before emptying their bench.

It was a 7 play, 61 yard opening drive that gave the Warriors the lead
as Basler hit Huck on a swing pass for 14 yards. Devon Kutz added his
first of 7 extra points for a 7-0 lead with 10:51 left in the opening
quarter.

Oberle returned a Black Cat punt 33 yards to the 2 and Huck took it in
from there for a 14-0 advantage just 3:33 into the game. Oberle then
pick up a fumble and rumbled 12 yards into the end zone just 1:08 later.
After a bad snap on the conversion, Kutz picked the ball up and hit Sr.
Brendan Samples for the 2 pointer and a 22-0 cushion.

The Warriors partially blocked a Herky punt and took over at their 17.
Jr. slot receiver Cole Wood caught a 3 yard pass out of the VC spread
for the touchdown with 4:53 to go in the opening 12 minutes. It was
29-0.

Herculaneum scored their only TD of the night as FB Sawyer Wilfong
scored on a 2 yard run, culminating a 4 play, 60 yard drive. He then
caught a 2 point conversion pass from QB Tim Venable for a 29-8 game and
still 3:06 left in quarter 1.

Basler and the Warriors struck right back on a quick drive exactly one
minute later as he found Oberle on a 13 yard scoring strike for a 36-8
lead after one. Basler finished 12-20 for 223 yards as Valle totaled 374
yards of offense.

The onslaught continued in the 2nd quarter as Oberle caught an 11 yarder
and Garrett Jaegers a 13 yard TD. Huck added a 10 yard run to paydirt as
did backup QB Mason Skaggs from the 4.

The final touchdowns in the 2nd half were scored by Sr. Matt Luttrell on
a 60 yard bubble screen from Skaggs and Sr. Seth Mueller picked up a
blocked punt and returned it 23 yards.

The Warriors held Herky to 85 total yards on 44 plays.

The Class 1 top ranked Warriors have now won 38 straight over 3 years.
They will finish their regular season at home next Friday against St.
Pius (Festus) (4-4).

Ste. Genevieve, now 7-1, and ranked 10th in Class 3, shut out De Soto,
41-0. Austin Brewer scored 4 TD’s. The Dragons close their regular
season at home against Caruthersville (5-3) Friday night. You can hear
