B.J. Schulte Blog – Week 5 – Parkway Central / Webster Groves

The Webster Groves Statesmen (3-2, 3-0) have now won three in a row after an impressive 28-7 win over Suburban South Conference rival Parkway Central (4-1, 2-1). The Statesmen now share the conference lead with the Kirkwood Pioneers, both teams have a 3-0 conference record.
The Parkway Central Colts got off to a great start in the first quarter after Finn McCoullogh picked off QB Rob Thompson. The Colts then went 27 yards for the touchdown drive, capped off by a 6 yd TD run by Michael Slater. Webster Groves offense didn’t get going until the 2nd quarter, and that’s when Cameron Hilton took over. Hilton’s 43 yard reception set up his 12 yd TD reception from Rob Thompson with 7:06 left in the first half.
The surprise of the night came from Junior RB Nick Delgado. Delgado led the Statesmen with 122 yards rushing and had the go ahead 42 yard TD run with 2:52 left in the first half. Bri’on Sanders (led with 6 tackles), Cameron Hilton (2 INT’s)  and the Statesmen defense took over from there. Parkway Central was shut down for the rest of the game.
Rob Thompson helped put the Colts away in the second half with a 5 yd TD pass to Hilton in the 3rd quarter and the game was sealed with a 6 yd TD pass to Rishon Loper with just 4:47 left in the game. The Statesmen will try and make it 4 in row next week at Parkway West (1-4, 1-2) while the Colts will host
Parkway North (3-2, 2-1).
