B.J. Schulte Blog – Week Six – Eureka / Marquette

The Eureka Wildcats stayed undefeated in the Suburban West with a 49-21 victory over the Marquette Mustangs. The Wildcats improved to 4-0 in conference play and 5-1 overall with a dominating rushing attack. Adam Yancey, Mason Bendigo, and Brett Geiz combined for 370 yards rushing on the night. Adam Yancey led the Wildcats with 150 yards rushing, while Brett Geiz had 3 rushing TD’s and a passing TD to go along with his 132 yards rushing. Mason Bendigo showed he his one most versatile and athletic QB’s in the area. Bendigo scored 2 TD’s rushing, 1 passing, and even one receiving on his way to over 200 all purpose yards.
Meanwhile the Marquette Mustangs dropped to 0-6 on the season and 0-3 in the Suburban West. QB Austin Powers started slow, but turned things around and had a strong game. Powers finished with nearly 300 total yards running and throwing including a 54 yard TD run and a 14 yd Td pass. Matt Scheibel was outstanding on both sides of the ball for the Mustangs, leading the way with 118 yards receiving including a 14 yard TD. Scheibel also had several pass defenses and an interception.
The Wildcats will look to win their fifth game in a row on Friday night as they travel to Lindbergh (3-3, 2-2), and that game can be heard on Prepcasts.com. On the side, the Mustangs will try to pick up their first victory next week as they will host Fox (2-4, 1-3).
