Bob Ryan Blog – SB – Fox / Eureka

With the Suburban West Softball Conference having FIVE of the top 10 LARGE schools in the most recent poll, it’s not real unusual to have TWO top TEN teams competing. On Tuesday, the #2 ranked Eureka Wildcats raised their record to 18-2 with an 8-5 victory over the #10 ranked Fox Warriors. Eureka outhit the Warriors 12-5 and in most scoring innings, Allie Craft was a part of the offense. Craft was 4 for 4, with 2 doubles, 2 runs scored and an RBI as she earned the Custom Graphics Standout Player of the Game. Fox, trailing 6-2 entering the bottom of the 5th was propelled by a bases-clearing 3-run triple of the bat of Karli Allen ,who now leads the Warriors with 21 RBI’s  for the year, was named the Lions Choice Athlete of the Game. Fox closed the lead down to 6-5 with Allen’s triple but Eureka tacked on a run in the 6th and the 7th     In an unusual twist, Eureka outfields, Allie Webb and Kelsey Tepen caught 10 fly-ball outs. Yes…10 of the 21 outs were put outs by the OF. Don’t usually see nearly so many outs by the OF J Abby Dean went the distance in the ring for the winning Wildcats
