Lafayette Softball continues rolling …

The #2 ranked Lafayette Lancers continued their winning ways and raised their record to 17-2 with a 10-0 victory over Northwest on Tuesday. After celebrating Senior ceremonies for Liz Frimel, Emily Hankins and Becca Carter, the Lancers scored two runs in the first inning then exploded for seven runs in the 3rd inning as they sent 12 batters to the plate. In that inning, Lafayette used 5 hits, 2 walks and 3 errors to break the game open. Meanwhile, Pitcher Maddie Siefert didn’t allow a hit until the 4th inning. At that point, Northwest had back-back singles for their only hits of the game. Siefert was named the Lions Choice 212 Athlete of the Game for her performance in the ring. The game ended when Addie Balderston hit a walk-off home-run as the lead-off batter in the bottom of the 5th inning. Balderston, just a Freshman, earned the Custom Shirt Graphics Standout Player of the game as she had two hits, scored three runs, drove home two runs and stole a base. – Click here for the game
