Bob Ryan Blog – Week 3 – The Quietest 3-0 teams in St Louis ….

The Quietest 3-0 teams in St Louis ….

Yes…there are more unbeaten teams—Parkway Central, Burroughs, Hazelwood Central, Kirkwood, Westminster, among others-and these teams are justifiably often recognized … but what about the others? Here are some from the St. Louis area who are still sitting with unblemished records…….

Duchesne Pioneers 3-0

The Pioneers toppled Borgia easily on Friday 35-7. Trevor Korba is a one-man wrecking crew. He led the team in tackles and Rushing against the Knights.

O’Fallon-Christian Eagles 3-0

The Eagles are the class of the AAA Small Conference. The Eagles are led by Deantrell Prince who has scored 7 TD’s and received 9 balls for 250 yards. O’Fallon Christian has outscored their opponents 160-39 for the season. They have a tough test on Oct 4 against Duchesne.

Ft Zumwalt North (3-0) & Ft Zumwalt East (3-0)

Two teams from the Gateway Central Conference. They are 1-2 in offense and defense. East leads the conference in offense while North tops the same conference in defense. These two will meet September 27 from the top rung of the conference.
Riverview Gardens (3-0)

Despite many school issues off the field, the Rams have shocked everyone by posting three quick wins. Granted, the tough part of the schedule still looms ahead for RG but let’s give credit where it’s due. While QB Marlon Smith guides the offense, both running and passing, it has been the tough Ram defense that has shined in the early going of 2013.

Brentwood Eagles (3-0)

Beating their long-time rival, and nemesis, in week 2-Maplewood Richmond-Heights seemed to take a burden off of the shoulders of the Eagles. Brentwood crushed Clopton 30-0 this week. This defense has 13 sacks and 8 FR to set the tone for the game. The running game is spread around between a bevy of backs.

Festus Tigers (3-0)

The Tigers have crushed their first three opponents while pouring in an average of 59 ppg! Often missed due to being in the Mississippi Red Conference, Festus has three runners with over 200 yards in the first 3 weeks of the season. Keep an eye on them for a deep post-season run.

I attended the 2 Festus home games. They look dominant on the ground. Scary stuff.
