Bob Ryan Blog – Week 4 – Eureka / Oakville

Falling behind 3-0 after suffering an interception on their first possession, Eureka was facing a 4th and 5 from their own 41 yard line. Using a swinging gate formation instead of the usual punt formation, the Wildcats fooled the Oakville Tigers and Brett Geisz completed a 38 yard pass to Chaun Smith down the middle of the field and he raced to the Tiger 23 yard line for a HUGE 1st down. Buoyed by the big play, the Wildcats marched the ball seven plays later as Adam Yancey scored his first of 3 touchdowns. Eureka scored on its next two possessions and went on to win comfortably 37-12 over Oakville. Adam Yancey, the Lions Choice Player of the Game rushed for over 180 yards. Meanwhile, Andy Oliver earned the Custom Graphics Standout Player of the Game for his strong offensive performance. He raced 81 yards for a TD, often scrambled around to extend a play and passed for over 100 yards. Eureka is now 3-0 in Suburban West play and they lead the conference. – Click here for the game
