Buzz Swanston Blog – Lindbergh vs Parkway South – Week 1

The new offense for the Lindbergh Flyers got off to a flying start in the season opener at Parkway South Friday night. It was Spirit Night for the Patriots, and they had a large crowd with plenty of spirit. Lindbergh struck first midway through the first quarter on a 78 yard scoring pass from SR QB Chuck Houska to Ben Kraft. Ben finished off the run with a great stiff arm to fend off the last tackler. The Patriots came right back on a nice scoring drive of their own, as Jake Hayes lugged the pigskin in from 5 yards out. 7-7 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Flyers struck again by air on the first play of the 2nd quarter, a 22 yard pass from Houska to Conner Manley, 13-7. Then with 8:49 left in the first half, an electrifying Lindbergh 86 yard TD pass Houska to Garrett Krueger. Krueger caught the slant pass and split the 2 safeties as he out ran the Patriot secondary to the end zone. Finally with 1:23 left in the half, Houska put a fade pass up in the end zone and Logan Offner out jumped the tight coverage for a TD and a Lindbergh 25-7 halftime lead. In the first half Houska was 13 for 22 for 286 yards.
In the second half the Flyers went to their ground attack and added a 16 yard TD run by Jay DuPree to finish with a 32-7 victory. Lindbergh will host McCluer North this coming Friday at 7pm.
