Jim Lowry Memorial – Bullets over Worth

RodneyDavispicClick here for a REPlay of the game … In a thrilling and fast-paced game featuring the Worth Tigers and Bullets, these girls brought it from start to finish. From inning one on, this game was full of thrills and action with the Tigers imposing their will early, a rain delay in between and the Bullets fighting and clawing back late to steal the game at the end and win the championship.

After a rocky start from starter Daisy Clark in the top frame, which had the Tigers storming out the gates to a 5-0 lead, the Bullets were able to keep their composure and eventually chip away at the lead.

While Clark didn’t fare well, and Katy Baker had her misfortunes, Nikki Abbott brought her A game and ultimately helped lead her team to a hard fought win. There was plenty of talent to go around in this game but Nikki Abbott was arguably the star of the game.

Abbott pitched solid from the mound entering the game during the third inning and shutting the game down, but it was at the dish that she really left her mark on this game.

Following a 30-minute rain delay, Abbott’s bat helped her team take control with a 2-run blast in the third that gave her team the lead at 6-5 and was a lead they would not relinquish.

Other stars of the game include the Bullets’ Shannon Wetzel, who hit a big homerun of her own and Mia Key who had a key pinch hit single during the later stages of the game.

As for the Tigers, they got good effort out of Isabelle “Izzy” Foster, Elizabeth Mulligan and others but in the end it was the Bullets that wanted it a little more and who hoisted the championship following an 11-9 game!

Chaos and Xpress 99 in a good final

STLPGFIn the St Louis Premier Girls Fastpitch 16U Championship game on Sunday, 4/26 featuring the Chaos and Xpress 99, there could only be one winner.

This game featuring two impressive young teams, and for a good portion of the game it was evenly matched. In the end though, the Chaos proved to be too much for the Xpress and pulled away in the third en route to an 8-3 win, and the Fastpitch 16U championship. Both clubs where competitive and up to the third it was a game of wits and who wanted it more. For the Xpress, they got a solid start out of pitcher Camryn Clark but thanks to errors that otherwise should have been routine plays, the game got out of hand and the Chaos simply capitalized when the opportunities presented themselves. For the Chaos, a strong complete game by pitcher Emma Nichols gave her the win. Congratulations to both the runner up, the Xpress 99 and the champion, Chaos for a thrilling and entertaining performance which showcased these young ladies gifted abilities and hopefully bright futures.
