Charlie Kennedy / Rob Kodner Blog – Week 5 – Seckman / UCity

Two 0-4 teams headed into this Suburban South game with the hope of getting into
the win column.  It ended up being a wild affair with both teams scoring on long
and unusual plays.  On the opening play of the game, U. City fumbled the snap
and Shane McGuckin of Seckman picked up the ball and ran it into the end zone
for a touch down.  By the end of the first quarter, U. City had taken a lead of
21 to 13, with the key play being a 99 yard kick off return by Jabriee Mason.
In the second period running back Darrian Fields had a 70 yard run from
scrimmage for a touchdown along with an 80 yards touchdown pass from QB Martez
Mayo to Ronnell Perkins.  The Lions took a 35 to 19 lead into halftime.  In the
second half, it was all U. City as they added 3 more scores and trounced the
Jaguars by a final score of 55 to 19.  The outstanding players of the game were
running back Andrew Kraus for Seckman who carried the ball 44 times for 208
yards.  For U. City, wide receiver Ronnell Perkins caught 4 balls for 152 yards
and 3 touchdowns.  It was a big Homecoming day for the Lions as they got into
the victory column for the first time this season in a big way. –
