Cardinal Ritter Prep (14-5), #4 small school, jumped off to a quick start and outscored St Mary’s Dragons 86-66 on Friday Night at St. Mary’s.  Watch the replay on:

The Lions came out firing as Sean Clancy drained three from beyond the arc early in the opening quarter and scored 11 points during that time as Ritter opened up a 20-10 lead by the end of the quarter. Matt Causino hit two 3-balls to lead the Dragons in the 1st quarter.

SM outscored the Lions in the 2nd quarter by a 22-20 margin. During this quarter, Josh Robinson, the area’s leading scorer, came alive. He dropped in 13 points on a variety of 10-15 foot jumpers. Throughout the game, Robinson had to work very hard as Ritter continually double-teamed him to force him to give up the ball. DeShawn Wilson scored 6 points from the paint in the 2nd quarter. Ritter looked to Jahmourie Robinson and Charles Jones a great deal during this quarter. Robinson had 10 points and Jones 9 points by the halftime buzzer. The score was 40-32 Ritter at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Ritter’s running game got into full gear and Lions had a quick, powerful surge early in the quarter. Sean Clancy reinserted himself offensively and had scored 24 points by the end of the quarter. Jahkobe Womack began scoring for Ritter. James Wiggins had his best quarter for SM as he moved the ball, scored a couple buckets and handled the ball efficiently. Scoreboard read 64-48 by the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter, Josh Robinson went on a tear as he scored 14 points in the quarter. Many were on FT that occurred as he drove to the basket and against the Ritter press. DeShawn Wilson kept up his steady, strong inside play. Ritter kept a 20ish point bulge throughout the quarter. The Final was: Ritter 86 St. Mary’s 66.

Leading scorers for the Dragons were Josh Robinson (33), DeShawn Wilson (14) and James Wiggins (12). Wilson was the co-leader with Robinson in rebounding with 9. Jake DeWeese handed out three assists in the game to lead the Dragons in that area. The Lions had four players in double figures. Sean Clancy led the way with 26. Jahmourie Robinson dropped in 22 with many on drives down the left side and had 11 assists. Charles Jones had 17 and Jahkobe Womack recorded 11 points. Click here for the replay
