The victory completed a 2nd consecutive unbeaten season for Judd
Naeger’s team. It was their 4th State Championship in 5 years and the
13th in school history. Webb City matched that number with their Class 4
Title on Saturday.

The Warriors jumped out to a 7-0 lead in their first possession, driving
76 yards in 9 plays. Connor Basler, who would end the day with 5
touchdown passes, hit sophomore Cole Wood from 18 yards out. The 5 TD
passes ties him with his Head Coach Judd Naeger for the most thrown in
Show-Me Bowl history.

The Hornets’ QB Zane Jacoby had quite a day. His 47 yard dash to the end
zone on an outside zone read tied the game at 7-7 with 5:16 left in the
1st quarter. He would later set a Show-Me Bowl record with a 98 yard TD
run in the 3rd quarter.

Valle took the lead for good late in the 1st half an Basler found Jr.
Nick Oberle from 12 yards out as Oberle wrestled the ball away from the
Westran defender end zone, culminating a 9 play-91 yard drive. The
Warriors added one more with 1:46 remaining in the half on a Basler 1
yard run that followed a 40 yard Basler to Oberle completion down to the
1. Valle led 21-7 at the break.

The Hornets got within 21-13 on the 98 yard run by Jacoby, but the
Warriors struck for another explosive play on the next snap from
scrimmage. Basler found fellow Jr. WR Garrett Jaegers on a 65 yard throw
right down the seam for a 28-13 lead. Jaegers added another TD catch
late in the game.

The Hornets showed no quit in the very physical game that saw the top 2
Valle running backs injured in the 1st half and they did not return.
Sophomore Tristan Huck injured a foot and Jr. Lee Stuppy apparently
rebroke his leg. Westran got within 28-19 midway through the 3rd quarter
on a 5 yard Jacoby to Parker Howard TD throw. But, the Warriors
responded again as Sr. Koltyn Schilly found pay dirt on a 10 yard run as
the 3rd quarter ended to make it 35-19.

Jacoby tallied his 3rd TD on a 2 yard run with 9:10 left, but the try
for 2 failed, and the Warriors lead was 10 at 35-25. Valle put the game
away with another Wood to Basler pass from 6 yards out with 6:24 to go.
That was followed by the Basler to Jaegers spectacular throw and catch
of 24 yards. The deal had been sealed at 49-25.

Schilly had 95 yards on 16 carries to pace the ground game while Basler
was 22-33 for 419 yards, the 2nd highest output in Show-Me Bowl history.
Oberle had 8 catches for 147 yards. Jaegers had 5 receptions for 173

Linebacker Logan Tucker finished his Valle career with 9 tackles and Jr.
LB Kurtis Meyer added 8.
