Steals & Stands...

Jefferson City Jays (6-1) were trailing the Ray-Pec Panthers 24-21 at the 4:28 mark of final quarter. Ben Licklider (JC) stole the ball from a Panther back, raced 80 yards for the TD. Ray-Pec didn't quit.  The next drive on the Jay 30 yard line a 4th and 2 situation, the Jays stopped the Panthers drive and hopes for a win with a big stop as they tackled the runner for a 2 yard loss.

Parkway North Vikings (5-2) thought it was wrapped up when they scored TD at 11:54 mark of 4th to take a 21-7 lead over the Summit Falcons. Summit had other ideas !  The Falcons scored drove as they drove down the field and cut lead to 21-14 at 4:16.  Stopping the Vikings, the Falcons final march took them down to the 11 yard line when it stalled on 4th down in the waning seconds of the gameAny other big D plays this week ?  bryan@prepcasts.com

What a U-turn this was ?

In 2006 the Rock Bridge Bruins thrashed the Hickman Kewpies 48-0. One short year later, the Kewpies return the favor by shutting out their cross-town rivals 23-0.  Do you know of any other U'ees ? bryan@prepcasts.com

Some good teams that you haven't heard much about in football for a long, long time

Fox Warriors (6-1) raced out to a 28-11 over their intra-district rival, the Seckman Jaguars(4-3). The huge crowd, watching both these programs rise from the ashes, may have thought that it was a "done deal". Not so fast, the Jaguars scored two unanswered TD's to close gape to 28-25 but couldn't quite catch the Cinderella team of St. Louis area. Fox was last so prominent in football in 1976. The Warriors will step on the field with the Mehlville Panthers, one of the elite class 6 team in St. Louis area, this week to open district. Game will be on www.prepcasts.com

Trinity Titans (5-2) are reaching levels that the school is seldom attained in its history (school was formerly Rosary High prior to merging with Aquinas-Mercy) as they edged St Marys 30-27 in AAA action. Marquise Hill has rushed for over 1000 yards as the Titans enter a highly competitive District that includes Lutheran North, Berkeley and Cardinal Ritter.  Any other schools that fall into this great story line ?  Shoot us the info-- bryan@prepcasts.com

13 was lucky in this case !

After 12 consecutive losses to the Nixa Eagles,  the 13th game turned around the fortunes of Republic Tigers (6-1). Republic handled the Eagles 31-12 (notice winning score is 13 reversed!!)  to end this drought. Any other streaks broken ?

Who saw this coming ?

When the Marquette Mustangs (1-6) began the game against the Northwest Lions (2-5), most observers expected a low scoring game.  Well--not exactly !   Would you believe, Marquette rumbled for 429 yards, passed for 119 to accumulate 548 yards of total offense. The Lions, were a bit more balanced yet equally prolific, 272 rushing, 263 passing! How about 535 of offense for Northwest. All in all, it was 1083 yards of offense for these two teams. It had to be a super game to watch! What game did you really enjoy this year due to the high scoring of each team ?  bryan@prepcasts.com

District title on line this Friday !

The Lawson Cardinals (7-0) will be taking on the tough Maryville Spoofhoun's (7-0) in class 2, district 16 play this Friday! Maryville crushed the Savannah Savages 56-8 last Friday. Lawson has only permitted 26 points all SEASON !

Not quite enough Fireworks !

Trailing by a halftime score of 9-0 to the Eureka Wildcats (7-0), the Parkway Central Colts (6-1) came out blazing. After a long march, Jordan Myles punched it over at the 7:58 mark. Eureka's Earl Jackson carries the kickoff back 80 yards for an instant TD to retaliate. The Colts kept pounding, Hal Martin ran 48 yards less than 2 minutes later to make it 16-14. However, this ended the fireworks as the teams later traded touchdowns. Final score Eureka 22 Central 20. Terrific game for both teams !!

Dominating Defense !

The Moberly Spartans (7-0) held the Fulton Hornets (6-1) to only 62 yards of offense as the Spartans whipped the Hornets 36-0. Moberly had "their way" on both sides of the ball as the offense moved the ball easily and often.

                                UP

Steppin' on UP

Class 2 Centralia Tigers (7-0) took down a class 4 team, North County Bonne Terre easily in a 42-0 victory. It points out once again, that good teams are good--at any level !
