Magnificent Seven for this week!

1a) Jackson Indians and Eureka Wildcats put their perfect records on the line in a game that some spectators claim is the "best ever seen". Jackson edged the Wildcats 21-20! Ultimately, Matt Lang of Jackson was the key "play maker". He caught a long 78 yard pass to take the ball down to the 1 yard line, blocked the Eureka attempt for the PAT, kicked the winning PAT and iced the game with a late interception!

1b) In a Class 3, District 13 battle between two 7-0 teams, Billy Gleason scored the winning TD on a 1 yard plunge with 1:29 left in the game to provide the Grain Valley Eagles with a 15-12 win over the Pleasant Hill Roosters. The biggest play of the night was the 95 yard KO Return for a score by Cody Fogle of the Eagles.

1c) O'Hara Celtics (5-3) rally for 21 4th quarter points to send game into OT against unbeaten Clinton Cardinals. Danny Hernandez catches winning TD pass in first OT session then deflects a Clinton pass to end the game. Logan Huggins (Clinton) carried the ball 50 times for 292 yards in a losing cause for Clinton (7-1)

1d) Another 7-0 team bit the dust for the first time in a terrific class 6 game. The Hickman Kewpies (6-2) traded offensive punches throughout this great game. The Jaguars (7-1) who trailed 22-7 midway in 2nd quarter, rallied to tie score at 29. Hickman responded with a drive that stalled with some fierce defense by the Jaguars. Stephen Peel's 31yard FG with 3:45 remaining was the difference. Each team had many stars! TJ Moe (Jaguars) had almost 500 yards of offense (336 passing, 153 rushing). Meanwhile, Kewpie Rob Heath raced for long TD runs of 48, 96 yards in the first half to provide the early cushion for the Kewpies.

1e) Trailing 24-3 as the 3rd quarter ended, the Festus Tigers (7-1) had their hands full with the fierce play of the N.County Raiders (3-5). An unanswered 24 point rally in the final quarter, including the winning FG by Travis Downey pulled out this terrific 27-24 victory for the Tigers.

1f) At the 3:10 mark of final quarter, Parkway South's Javon Coleman scampered 31 yards for a TD to put the Patriots on top of the Lafayette Lancers 32-31 for the first time in this game. Lafayette "stepped up" to answer the challenge as Brian Muench hit Nate Goro with a 53 yard bomb to pull out a 35-32 win.

1g) Two 7-0's took the field in Class 2 action. #1 ranked, Lawson Cardinals (8-0) fought off the aggressive #4-Maryville Spoofhound's 28-20. Some experts around the state feel that this win sets up the Cardinals for a trip to the Dome. Ball control was the key for the Cardinals in this win.

 Some gaudy numbers !

Dawan Cummings of Hogan Prep threw for 5 TD passes in the Hogan Prep 36-21 over previously unbeaten Holden. Amazingly, Hogan Prep failed on all 6 PAT attempts !

Matt Warrick rushed for 306 yards yet his Marquette Mustang (1-7) fell to the CBC Cadets (5-3) 47-30 in a prolific offensive game for both teams. The Mustangs hung up 514 yards of offense while the Cadets mustered 440 yards !

Alexis Reedus had a hand in all 5 Mehlville (6-2) touchdowns. Alexis rushed for 3 scores and threw for 2 other TD's in the 34-7 win over Fox (6-2). Reedus rushed for 140 yards and was 10 of 12 for 224 yards in as the Panthers blitzed the Warriors with 28 2nd quarter points to take control of the game.

Top Dawgs Barking (or being BIT)

Rockhurst Hawklets with Drew Temple scoring 4 times pounded the talented Joplin Eagles 49-21. Blue Springs South looms on the district horizon!

Mt Grove (8-0) fell behind 14-0 to an upstart Fair Grove (4-4) team in the first half. A 57 yard pass in the waning seconds of the first half from Casey White to Logan Williams set up the go-ahead score. Mt Grove went on to a convincing 34-13 win. Frosh Caleb Schaffittel scored both TD's Fair Grove.

Crystal City Hornets (7-1) were tied, much to their surprise, in mid-4th quarter action. When DJ Sullivan hauled in a 25 yard TD pass at the 6:46 mark and the Hornets pushed aside a feisty St Pius X (1-7) team 21-14.

When Lee Summit North committed 3 turnovers in 4 offensive snaps, it didn't take long for Blue Springs South(8-0) to go for the jugular. The Jaguars capitalized on each opportunity and breezed to a 38-0 whitewashing of the Broncos. On Saturday, Jaguars Standout Junior QB Blaine Dalton gave an oral commitment to University of Missouri.

East Newton (4-4) upended Pierce City (7-1) 33-21 to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season. Class 2, District 11 is now really up for "grabs".

Chaffee Red Devils punt return team really was special on Friday. The Red Devils two touchdowns were direct results of this "special" team. They blocked one punt that led to one score and after a poor snap, tackled punter immediately to provide great field position on the other TD. The Red Devils (5-3) defeated the defending district champions, St Vincent Indians (3-5) 13-10.

Falling behind 20-0, due to two costly fumbles, proved to be too much for the Ft Osage Indians (7-1) to overcome. The Indians fell for the first time this season to the Park Hill South Panthers(5-3) 28-20 in Class 5, district 8 action.

DeSmet Spartans(5-2) , chosen by most to walk through district play, was tied 14-14 after 3 quarters with the Howell Central Spartans(1-6). Some fans were puzzled. DeSmet came alive -- kicked a FG and scored two 4th quarter touchdowns to hang up a very deceptive 30-14 victory.
