The
opening of the 2007 season saw some wild, uncontrollable
scoring, take a look...
...Over
a 1000 yards of offense, come on ! Well there were 1048 yards of
total offense during the Jeff City-Springdale, Ark game won by
the Jays 57-33. The Jays raced around for 525 yards of rushing
offense as Desmond Wilson led the way with 303 yards. Wilson
fell just 7 yards short of tying Jay legend, George Shorthose
for the all-time single game record for the Jays. I suppose that
all the over-heated calculators had to be cooled down during the
haftime break as it was 34-33 a the halftime buzzer.
...St
Clair was up 24-7 and feeling good. The Timberland Wolves
outscored the Bulldogs 34-7 in 2nd half as Montee Ball crossed
the goal line 4 times. Timberland walked off a 55-38 victor in a
non-league game.
...Fair
Grove's Soph running star, Caleb Schaffitzel, opened the season
with 6 scores as his team crushed Osceola 40-21. Last season as
a Freshman, Schaffitzel romped for 1300 yards. On Friday,
Schaffitzel gobbled up 240 yards on 26 carries.
...Lee Summit West
did it the ol' fashioned way and ground it out. The Titans
rushed for 386 yards their way to a 35-3 spanking of the Ozark
Tigers.
...stats
are still being compiled from the Union shootout over the Borgia

...DeSmet
Spartans totally shut down the highly touted Rock Bridge Bruins
33-0. Wes Kemp provided 3 TD receptions to lead the Spartans.
Look for the Spartans to be ranked this week in statewide polls.
...Pattonville
Pirates jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead, saw the NorthStars
tie them at 14 in 3rd quarter and then took control again in
final quarter as the Pirates knocked off the defending Suburban

...Either
it was a Super or a heartbreak ending, depends which side you
were on...
...WG drove down inside the 2 yard line late in the
game. After a two attempts (including a controversial 2nd
attempt), the Belleville East Lancers hung onto a thrilling
14-12 victory over the Statesman.
...Glendale's
pass at the final buzzer fell incomplete and saw their chances
end for an victory over Camdenton fall aside also. The Lakers
16-10 win continues their winning steak over the Falcons that
began in 1991 !
...Fox
Warriors shot out to a quick led, saw the Knights of Farmington
chip away to gain the lead early in the 4th. When Fox scored
with 2 min remaining, the Warriors smelled upset only to see
their hopes dashed by a FG in the waning seconds to give
Farmington a 28-26 win !
...what
?? A shutout ?
...Jackson
Indians closed the door on the potent Howell Central offense
that averaged 30+ ppg last year. Jackson's 8-0 victory seems
reminiscent of scores of yester year ! |
