It had been since September 30,
2005 that Kirkwood had tasted defeat in the Suburban West
Conference as they fell to Parkway South on that day 24-21. On
Friday, it was the same Patriot team that handed the Pioneers a
Sub West defeat 22-13. First of all, Congrats to Coach Larry
Frost and Kirkwood for their long string of wins! The South win
was "iced" by the 67 yard run by Kevon McGrew at the 3:57 mark
of the final quarter. South was able to hold the Pioneer offense
to just 1 of 9, 3rd down conversions for the game! What do you
Pioneer & Patriot fans think about the string and the win?

Who needs the pass game says
Chillicothe ? The 3-0 Hornets rushed for 409 yards as they
whipped the previoulsy unbeaten Grain Valley Eagles (2-1) 48-16.
Sure the Hornets can pass...they were 3 for 3 in the pass game.
Hornet fans.. your thoughts

It sounded easy... Timberland's
48-14 win over St Charles West. It some ways it was....Montee
Ball plays just slightly more than half the game and scores
6...yes 6!...touchdowns. Actually with about 2:40
remaining in 1st half, the score was 21-14 Timberland as SCW had
Brannon Champagne run back a long KO return for 1 TD and catch a
QB throwback pass for another. Suddenly, the Warriors fumbled
twice and failed to jump on a KO around the 20 yard line so the
Wolves pounded three quick scores over the goal line and the
game was OVER. This flurry took about 90 seconds of game time!
Fans, tell us about Montee & the
Wolves as well as Brannon & SCW at

What's that? The only
unbeaten class 6 teams on the eastern side of MO--- well how
about Hazelwood West and Lindbergh !! Something tells me that
Vegas didn't have the odds in the preseason for these early
records! Congrats to both schools for their quick starts!
Lindbergh will be on this Friday against the NW Lion on
www.prepcasts.com.
One school that never seems to
think that a game is OVER (til its OVER) is the Holt
Indians(3-0). In week 2, Holt trailed Troy 21-zip in the 2nd
quarter when a late FG seemed to spark the Indians. Two TD's on
interceptions turned the tide for a 24-21 win #2 . On Friday,
Holt fell behind the Howell Vikings 20-7 at half and still were
looking at a 27-14 after 3 quarters. A terrific 4th quarter of 3
unanswered scored pushed Holt to 3-0 for the season as they won
34-27. Congrats to Coach Shields for instilling this great
attitude ! What do you Holt fans think after your Indians were
2-8 last year ? Let me know

Another team making a name for itself is
the Raytown South Cardinals. Now 3-0 in the always tough
Suburban Mid-6 of KC, the Cardinals must deal with the Lee
Summit West Titans and Belton Pirates (both State
Championship caliber teams of 2007) in the upcoming weeks.
In week 2, Blue Springs South pulled
off a tremendous comeback and a late FT to tie the game in
regulation and to beat Park Hill (read blog of
Sep 8) in OT. This week, BSS was following the same script.
Falling behind, rallying and then turning to kicker Brian
Geraghty for a 10 yard field goal attempt with only 10 ticks
left on the clock. However, the Ray-Pec Panthers (3-0)
spoiled the plot by blocking the FG and winning a thrilling
20-19 game! Fans... tell us your thoughts on that game
at bryan@prepcasts.com
If you didn't believe it before... the
Gateway Tech Jaguars are for real. Losing last week to
highly ranked Helias, the Jags beat a strong Jackson Indian
team 14-7 with a dominant defense and some electrifying
running by soph Anthony Pierson (2 TD- 65 yd run and 40 yd
pass). This week the Jags will face the Rough Riders of
Roosevelt High School !
Blue Springs (3-0) isn't ducking anybody.
After beating Lee Summit West by a single point 36-35 in the
opener. This week the Wildcats upended defending class 6
state champion, Rockhurst 28-21. Coming up is the Ray-Pec
Panthers, class 5 powerhouse, and their huge
intra-district rival--Blue Springs South. It should be great
football...Wildcat fans...send me your thoughts at bryan@prepcasts.com
