Substitute throws 6 TD passes, top 10 battles , points galore, whisker games, popular Pirates again—this week had it all…
6 TD passes off bench….Matt Jordan (Ozark), inserted due to injury, threw for 6 TD passes as the Ozark Tigers beat the Camdenton Lakers 39-12 to go 2-0 for the season.
Top 10 teams squaring off this weekend…in Class 6 action, #5 Blue Springs (2-0) upended #2 Rockhurst (1-1) 24-7…Class 5, #1 Raymore-Peculiar Panthers lost to class 6, #4 Liberty Bluejays (2-0) in a wild scoring 43-28 game….another highly ranked class 5 team fell as #4 Camdenton saw Ozark throw 6 TD passes against them for a 39-12 Tiger victory (see above)…in class 4 play, #2 Webster Groves dropped their 2nd consecutive game as the lost to #9 Summit 31-21 in conference action
What does it take ? Carthage star Caleb Snyder must be wondering as he rushed for 142 yards, scored 3 TD’s but saw his Tiger team fall to the Webb City Cardinals (2-0) 35-21.
Buzzer beating rallies….Vianney (1-1) trailed Riverview Gardens 20-15 when they took possession on their own 20 yd line with 1:20 remaining and 0 timeouts. The Golden Griffins scored as the buzzer sounded to grab a thrilling 21-20 non conference win. The McDonald County Mustangs(1-1) down by 7 points with just over 2 minutes left, scored twice to edge Grove Oklahoma HS 26-21 in another thriller!
Points…you want Points ? How about Platte County 68 Westport 28 or the Nevada Tigers 52 El Dorado Springs Bulldogs 27 as the Tigers rolled up 481 yards of total offense as QB Ronnie Herda was 13 of 22, 216 yards, passed for 2 TD, ran for 3 more !! Crystal City scored 2 TD each quarter while outlasting Orchard Farm(1-1) 54-38. Michael Schembre scored 3 TD’s—2 pass receptions and 1 INT.

Year of the Pirates ? …this summer, it was the Pirates of the Caribbean, now the Perryville Pirates are preying on opponents again this fall. Perryville who went 0-10 in 2005, already are 2-0 as they knocked off the DeSoto Dragons 24-7 as Kris Cotton rushed for 171 yards to lead the way for the now smiling Pirates.
OT this week….the Lindbergh Flyers scored in the 4th quarter to tie it at 7-7 against the Marquette Mustangs (1-1). Jason LoRusso booted a 27 yard FG to win it in OT !
