Mother Nature had her way....some games were postponed, some delayed, some interrupted, some game plans changed due to the weather…take a look..
Shortened games… Willow Springs (2-2) 20 Springfield Catholic (2-2) 16 – called with 3 minutes left in 3rd quarter. QB Scott Myers was 13 of 15 for 132 yards to lead the way ….West Plains Zizzers (2-2) 9 Kickapoo Chiefs (0-4) 7 called late 3rd quarter !
Long delays….Joplin trailed Glendale 14-7 prior to a lengthy halftime. The Eagles rebounded for 14 unanswered points to win the Ozark Conference game 21-14.
…Chaminade was up 3-0 and driving when the lightning approached at CBC, the Cadets regrouped and romped 42-24 with 495 total yards as Rayon Simmons scored 4 TD’s.
Ground attacks—some wet fields led coaches down the “run” attack mode….
….Belton Pirates 42 Raytown South 15 as Ben Pritchett lugged the ball 34 times for 296 yards and 5 TD’s …….Drexel (2-2) 24 Osceola Indians (0-4) 22 as the Drexel backs pounded out 356 yards on 64 carries ! ….Carl Junction Bulldogs were led by Derek Slade 20 carries for 190 yards, 3 TD’s as they whipped the E.Newton Patriots 25-19…The Neosho Tigers had Tommy St. John race for 210 yards on just 19 carries and 4 TD’s as the Tigers beat the Branson Pirates 37-14
Some of the best of the week…Lebanon Yellowjackets record remained unblemished (4-0) as Steve Keeney caught a 4 yard pass with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to tie the game. Lebanon won in OT 20-14 over the Rolla Bulldogs (2-2)…Pattonville Pirates held a comfortable 24-3 lead early in the 4th quarter when the Howell North Knights rallied to tie the game ! The Pirates bounced back to win 31-30 in OT with a converted PAT !…Blair Oaks Falcons (3-1) beat down the upset hopes of the Moberly Spartans (1-3) 28-27. Derek Verslues scored the only points of the 2nd half to push the Falcons over the top. Moberly had 332 yards offense, 16 first downs but fell short in a great effort !…..Rockhurst (#3,Class 6)and Jeff City tangled as two of the most prestigious programs in the STATE went back and forth at each other. The Hawklets won this slugfest 41-32…Timberland Wolves (3-1) scored 16 straight points in the last 8:04 to win a GAC North game over the St Charles West Warriors 22-14 (listen to the replay on www.prepcasts.com on demand….Warsaw edged Buffalo 28-27 in another thriller …School of the Osage edged the California Pintos 28-21.
