Week 2 of district continues to confound some and make others
look like experts, where do you fall ?
Here we go flying around the great
state of Missouri -sorry our place didn't stop at EVERY
district! One can only fly so fast...
Class 6-District 1
Fox (8-1) had to block an extra PAT
and then make a defensive stand late in the game to hold off
upset-minded Northwest (1-8)14-13. NW scored all of their points
in the final quarter.
Oakville (6-3) glided past Seckman 52-29. Fox & Oakville will
decide the district champion this week. Both will move on in the
playoffs.
Class 6-District 2
Each of the top two teams struggled
this week. Lindbergh (9-0) was behind 15-14 after 3 quarters
before scoring 3 TD's in the 4th to win 30-15 over the Ritenour
Huskies(1-8). SLUH (5-4)squeezed by Mehlville(0-9) 21-20 when
Soph Mitch Klug grabbed a TD pass from Soph Trevor McDonagh with
only 2:05 left in the game! Maybe each was looking forward to
this week's title game. Both will move on and play teams from
district 1.
Class 6- District 3
CBC (7-2) shut out the Lafayette
Lancers(6-3) 6-0 in this highly competitive district to take a
2-0 record into the final week against Parkway South(5-4). South
upended Marquette 20-7 last week. At this point, CBC is +19;
Lafayette + 7, South 0 points so the Cadets & Lancers appear to
be in good shape. However, should South beat CBC by 10 points
(or more) and Lafayette beat Marquette by 4 or more, it would be
Lafayette & South by points since all teams would be 2-1 in
district.
Class 6-District 4
What a mess...every team is 1-1 in
district ! Hazelwood West stunned McCluer North stars 35-24 a
week after the Stars toppled Hazelwood Central Hawks! Really,
this is an easy one to figure. The two winners of this week's
games will advance. Matchups ? Haz Cen vs Haz West and
Riverview Gardens vs McCluer North Stars.
Class 6-District 5
The top two teams are in place. DeSmet
(9-0) rumbled past Howell North 61-0 and has holds a 123-0 point
spread in its two District games. The Howell Vikings advanced
for their 2nd consecutive year with a convincing 42-7 win over
Howell Central. The Vikes & Spartans will determine the District
Champ this week on
www.Prepcasts.com.
Class 6-District 6
Jefferson City Jays already have
district crown on ice. Should Ft Zumwalt West (5-4) beat Troy
(1-8) as expected this week, they will be the #2 team of this
District. The Jays beat the Jags 55-7 on Friday.
Class 6-District 7
Rockhurst is in the dance..meanwhile,
Lee Summit (3-6) knocked off the Joplin Eagles(5-4) 31-16
setting up the game against Lee Summit North (3-6) to determine
which team advances with Rockhurst.
Class 6-District 8
The top two teams tangled last Friday.
Blue Springs handed Liberty a 51-21 loss. Blue Springs
(8-1) piled up 520 yards of offense and used an explosive 3rd
quarter (4 TD's) to break open the game against the Bluejays
(7-2). All four scores were offensive plays of 40+ yards.
Keeston Terry's receptions and Darrian Miller's runs make the
Wildcats tough to defend.
Class 5-District 1
Eureka (4-4) and Summit (3-6) will
square off for District title this week. Each team will advance.
Eureka has yet to surrender a point in the district play with
7-0 (over Jackson) & 30-0 over Cape Central. Jackson will be
home thinking about how close they were...they lost 7-0 to
Eureka and 7-3 to Summit..ugh!
Class 5-District 2
#1 ranked, Class 5 team, Webster
Groves (8-0) and Chaminade (7-2) will settle the district crown
this week. The loser will face the loser of District 1 game in
regional round. The winner of that regional game with have the
surging Hazelwood East Spartans in Sectionals. Winner draws a
bye in regional and faces winner of District 1 in Sectionals.
Class 5-District 3
Weird looking district here-- Parkway
North (8-1) is 2-0 in district and the other 3 teams are each
1-1. Kirkwood (6-2) has the Vikings this week while Parkway
Central (7-2) & Parkway West (4-5) tangle. Unless Kirkwood can
beat North by 13 or more, it appears that winner of Central-West
game will advance. A Kirkwood of any kind, throws it into
"points" as the deciding factor.
Class
5-District 4
Hazelwood East
Spartans(5-4) are in while Pattonville (2-7) and
McCluer (2-7) will determine this weekend the
2nd team from this district. After dropping the
first 4 games, the Spartans are riding a 5 game
win streak.
Class
5-District 5
Timberland Wolves
(8-1, 2-0) who face Holt (5-4,1-1) this week are
assured a spot. Washington Bluejays
(6-3,1-1)should be the #2 team with a win over
Ft Zumwalt South (1-8,0-2)
Class
5-District 6
Lebanon's narrow 28-27
win over Camdenton last Friday should push them
into the Playoff spot. #5 ranked (State poll)
Rolla sloshed its way past Waynesville 14-0 on
Friday to wrap up their spot. Lebanon has
Waynesville as Rolla faces Camdenton this week.
Class
5-District 7
One of the districts
with 5 teams is one of the best to follow. The
Kickapoo Chiefs really upset the apple cart with
a stunning, late TD drive to knock off Ozark
17-13. Ozark finishes District at 3-1.
Meanwhile, Kickapoo is 2-1 and Nixa is 2-1. Nixa
faces Glendale (1-8) as Kickapoo faces
Parkview(2-7). Way too many if's, and's or
but's to list all the possible scenario's
regarding the point totals. Watch this one
closely.
Class 4-District 2
N. County
(2-5)scored 14 unanswered points in the 4th
quarter to shock Desoto 27-20. Meanwhile,
Festus(5-4) was coasting past Windsor (1-8) at
half 34-7. Suddenly, the Owls came alive!
Windsor scored 26 points in the 2nd half but
fell 41-33 to Festus who has a Playoff spot in
their pocket. Meanwhile, Desoto (6-3) will face
Festus and must win to have a chance for
post-season play. N.County faces WIndsor.
Class 4-District 3
Ladue (7-2) came
alive late to defeat the Dragons of St Marys
21-17. The Rams trailed 17-7 into late 3rd
quarter prior to their rally. Ladue barely edged
Afton 21-20 in week one! Afton (7-2) will face
SM this Thursday to determine the second team of
this district.
Class 4-District 4
With their 14-8 win
over Sumner, Vashon (5-4) sits in driver's seat
at 2-0. Vashon has been relying on the passing
game led by Darren Fowlkes. Gateway Tech (5-4,
1-1) will face Sumner (4-5, 1-1) to determine
the #2 slot of this district.
Class 4-District 5
Normandy (8-1) will
face U. City (4-5) for the district crown this
week. Each are 2-0 in district competition. The
winner will likely draw MICDS (#2 team of
District 6 in a tough regional game.
Class 4-District 6
Westminster
(7-2,2-0) leads the way here. MICDS(7-1)
struggled past Duchesne (1-8) to eek out a 20-14
win. Losing in week 1 due, in least in part, to
a missed PAT, the kicking woes continued as
another PAT was failed in the Duchesne win.
Westminster & MICDS will advance.
Class 4-District 7
Ft Zumwalt East
(7-2) wins their first district crown with a win
over St Dominic 38-23. Both Lions losses have
been to playoff teams-- Timberland and Ladue. St
Dom will face Warrenton to fill the 2nd playoff
spot from this district.
Class 4-District 9
Pacific (7-2)
outlasted Union 31-28 to, more or less, decide
the district crown. Union (5-4)and St. Clair
(5-4) face each other to decide the #2 team this
week in Four Rivers action.
Class 4-District 10
Bolivar (8-1)
notched its 4th district title in 7 years as
they handled Hillcrest 55-14 on Friday.
Hillcrest (5-4) squares off with Williard (1-8),
who upset Marshfield, for the 2nd consecutive
year to decide the #2 team.
Class 4-District 13
Grain Valley upset
#7 ranked Smith-Cotton 56-49 in a track meet.
The key play of this thrilling game was the
2-point conversion executed by the Eagles to
take a 50-49 lead with 3+ minutes left in the
game. Bulldozing FB, Grace Goade powered over to
give Grain Valley the permanent lead.
Both teams will
advance and we could light up the scoreboard
again in sectional round.
Class 3-District 14
Richmond Spartans
(5-4, 1-1) toppled Boonville (6-3,1-1) 18-7 on
Friday. Richmond held the Pirates to 53 yards
offensively in this game! This give the inside
track to the Spartans for the #2 hole. Leading
the way are the Odessa Bulldogs (4-5, 2-0).
Boonville faces Odessa on Friday.
Class 1-District 1
St Vincent
(4-5,2-0) earned a playoff berth by scoring the
last 16 points of the game and beat Portageville
16-6. St Vincent is tied with Hayti (6-3) (who
they face this week) and each team will advance.
Class 1-District 9
Salisbury (6-3)
edged Westran(7-2) 22-20 to win the District
crown. Westran now faces Fayette to determine
the 2nd team of the district.
Our tour is ending
now...hope you enjoyed the ride...
