Mother Nature continued her glorious gift of beautiful weather throughout most of Missouri which provided the teams with the game-competition necessary to elevate one's skills.

TOURNAMENT TITLES...

Rockhurst won the Capital City Tournament in Jefferson City with a 6-0 victory over the Helias Crusadors. Helias had won an exciting earlier round game by scoring six runs in the 7th inning to whip Blue Springs 10-4.

The Eugene Eagles (7-0) won the Iberia Tournament as they permitted just two runs in the three tournament games. The Eagles won the opening round 6-0 over Tipton, 14-0 over East Carter and then won the title game 6-2 over Iberia.

In the Camdenton Tournament, the host school won't be remembered for its hospitality. Camdenton beat Russellville 10-0 to win the Championship !

Webb City (6-2) surprised the Monnett Cubs 5-2 in the Bill O'Dell tournament. The Cardinals scored three runs in the 6th inning as Gage Belcher led off with a double. TIGHT  WINS....

Scott City (4-2) edged Oran 4-2 in a rain-shortened, 5 inning game this week. Skylar Cobb, surrendered two first inning runs, then shut door as he allowed only two hits and struck out 9 batters for the Rams. The very next day, Scott City outslugged Dexter 9-7 to wrap up a thrilling week. A five run 3rd inning was the difference as the Rams bunched together some key hits, walks and had an error provide.

It was the #9 hitter who was the clean-up man!  Landon Norris (Ft Osage) blasted a 3-run HR as part of a four run 6th inning that pushed Ft Osage (5-4) over Staley 11-9. Staley tasted defeat for the first time in this game despite pounding out 13 hits.

Van Horn trailed 6-2 against Hickman Mills as they came into bat in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Falcons tied the game in the 6th and saw Brendan Jones drive home the winning run with two out in the bottom of the 7th inning to advance to championship game of South Kansas City Baseball Classic.

Chaminade (7-3) used a two run dinger from Jimmy Meyercord as the Flyers upended Vianney(10-2)  4-2 in a Metro Catholic Conference game. Chaminade was held to just three hits in the game by tough-luck loser Brian Schwabe.

Vianney bounced back the very next day! The Golden Griffins scored a single tally in the 6th to tie it up with CBC 5-5. The Cadets scored a run in the top of the 7th but Vianney won it by scoring two runs in the bottom of the 7th 7-6. Sam Haseltine was 3 of 4  with four ribbies for the victors.

IT WAS A HOME RUN SHOW AT.......

The Lafayette (5-3)- Oakville (10-2) game pitted two of the top teams in the area. Most everyone was surprised when the Lancers bounced five shots over the boards on the way to a 16-6 win. Brandon Graft , Sean Kyle, Patrick Lyons, Jacob Ripp and Khalfani Mar'Na each took their trip around the bases! Lafayette lost their first 2 games of the year but are now playing much better ball.

TEAMS FLYING OUT OF THE CHUTE ....

Bishop DuBourg has surprised many observers with its 8-1 start. After a recent 3-1 win over SLUH, the Cavaliers caught some attention. Leading the way has been the superb pitching of Matt Linderer and Josh Wagemann.

Westminster Christian Academy has fielded some strong teams of late and this year is no exception. Holding an 8-4 record after opening with five consecutive wins in Florida, Westminster is being led at the plate by Ryan Allee (.605)and Tate Matheny (.475).
