Crushing!
The Hickman Kewpies (7-3) needed a victory against Jefferson
City to advance to Class 6 post season play. Leading 30-13 in
the 3rd quarter, the Kewpies were feeling good about things.
Suddenly, Jays came alive with a couple scores. Late in the 4th,
the Jays marched meticulously down the field for a 95 yard, 17
play scoring drive that gave them their first lead of the game
33-30 with just 38 seconds remaining. Hickman, wasn't finished,
moved down with a couple keen pass plays. As the clocked ticked
off its final seconds, the 43 yard attempt sailed wide for the
Kewpies and their playoff hopes sailed away also. Ft Zumwalt
West, beating FT Zumwalt South handily, advanced through the
point system to the playoffs. The Jaguars will face the DeSmet
Spartans on Friday. The game will be heard LIVE on

The battles of the unbeaten district teams!
Class 6 powers--Rockhurst and Blue Spring South brought in 9-0
records last Friday. The Hawklets raced ahead 27-0 over a
stunned Jaguar team as they piled up 231 yards of their game
total 282 in the first half. The Jags fought back using a 93
yard run to narrow the gap but it wasn't enough so the Hawklets
move on. Who will they face? Blue Springs!
St Francis Borgia and Owensville faced each other for the usual
stakes--district title. This year the Borgia Knights avenged
their 2006 loss and advanced by edging the Dutchman 25-20.
Surrendering 88 points in 3 district playoff games usually isn't
good for success. Not so for the Union Wildcats(9-1) who scored
140 points during district! The Wildcats had a wild 42-41 win
over the tough St Clair Bulldogs to advance on to face the Ozark
Tigers (6-4). Ozark whipped the Nixa Eagles 33-14 in their
district title game.
Normandy Vikings (7-3) ended the Cinderella dreams of the U City
Lions (3-7) 27-14. Interestingly enough in a game that the final
score was a bit misleading, U City had almost 400 yards offense
(282-rushing, 112 passing) as opposed to the Vikings who played
ground-chuck all day-- 262 rushing and 0 passing !
Summit Falcons (4-6) jumped on the Affton Cougars early and
often and romped to a 45-0 win.
A little of this and a little of that was the formula for some
teams!
Ft Osage Indians (9-1) shut out Park Hill 7-0 to keep their
hopes alive. When St Joe Central upended Park Hill South 38-19,
both teams had identical records in district. They had the same
point totals, so it went to head-head--the Indians earned the
title. Ft Osage will now take on Raytown South in state
quarters.
These
Cardinals of Raytown South (4-6) are quite a story! Their 4
district wins are their 4 wins of the year! Early in the year,
the Cards fell to the Indians so revenge and a hot streak will
be their key components in this rematch.

Some teams knocked the door down!
Herman Bobcats (7-3) pounded Wright City 49-16. This class 2
team toughens itself with a tough schedule that strong teams
from higher classes (Union, Owensville, Montgomery County).
Lutheran North (6-4) whitewashed the Trinity Titans (6-4) 35-0
in class 3, district 5 play. The Crusadors started off the
season very slowly as they dropped 3 of their first 4 games! The
Crusadors will now take on the talented Moberly Spartans in
sectional play on Wednesday. Moberly (10-0) walloped Kirksville
42-0 last weekend.
Off the mat!
Trailing 28-21 at the half, Timberland Wolves turned it over to
star running back, Montee Ball. Ball crossed the goal line 5
times and rushed for 317 yards in the Wolves 48-38 victory over
the spirited Hannibal Pirates.
Shocked after 3 quarters, the Glendale Falcons (7-3) were
behind the Kickapoo Chiefs (1-9) 3-0! The Falcons behind Joey
Mendels' 3 rushing TD's came alive and romped to a 27-3 win to
notch the district championship.
