MHSBCA
ALL-STAR WEEK…
Prepcasts had the pleasure of announcing all four classes of the Missouri
High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star games this past Saturday.
Many outstanding baseball players demonstrated superior skills during the
day. Congratulations to the MHSBCA for the organization of this great day
of baseball.
All-Star
Games
Some thoughts on all-star games…let the entire roster bat in order
with the exception of pitchers who don’t normally bat. This goes for
Major Leagues also! Some rules that I’d suggest: Pitchers should be
given a max of 3 innings, all fielders should be used 3-4 innings per game,
Free substitution in the field should be permitted. Think of it-no major
league players ducking out after 3 innings to catch a plane. All of the
stars would be batting throughout the game.
Missing
in action?
Chosen by the MHSBCA to participate in the All-Star game, Travis Mitchell
(Parkway Central) wasn’t on hand! He was in Johnson City playing for
the Cardinals minor league Class A team. He signed quickly and is already
donning a uniform for this Cardinal farm team. Best of Luck to him!
Building
a program
ST Charles Community College is in the process of building a baseball program.
All of these All-Stars will be wearing their jersey next year—Kyle
Corcoran (Howell), Bryce Kay (Jeff City), Jeff DeKalb (Howell)!
Byron
Hagler on air!
Coach Byron Hagler who recently announced his retirement from Hillcrest
High School will be featured in a Talking with the Legends Program on Prepcasts.
This interesting, entertaining talk will be offered in mid-July. Coach Hagler
made 9 trips to the Final Four in Baseball as he guided the Licking Wildcats
and Hillcrest Hornets over his 27 years. Other Legends are being booked
and the series will continue “in force”. The interviews with
Bob Shannon, Floyd Irons, Kristin Folkl and Thad Strobach are still available
to be heard.
