The excitement of basketball District Championship games came in all different forms this weekend. Take a look….
…Jeff
City Girls (22-5) raced to a 20-1 lead and coasted to 64-29 thumping of
Rock Bridge. Coach Doug Light’s girls were 7of 8 from beyond the arc.
The top half of Class 5 Girls brackets is loaded with Jeff City- St Joseph
Academy-Incarnate Word all in the upper half of the brackets.
….Rock Bridge Boys (24-1) returned the favor to the Jays by whipping
the Jays 45-37 for their first District Championship in nine years. This
has been a banner year in athletics for the Bruins!
…Lee Summit Girls (22-4) came from a 30-28 deficit at the end of 3
quarters to rally and knock off the Broncos of Lee Summit North 40-37.
…After a sluggish beginning in the 1st quarter the Rockhurst Hawklets
(23-3) with their hands filled with the upstart Hickman Mills team right
on their tail at 19-17, the Hawklets recorded a 16-4 2nd quarter to begin
cruising to their 59-43 win.
…Mehlville Girls (27-1) dominated the 1st quarter and led at one point
20-2 over their intra-district rival, Oakville Tigers. Oakville kept battling,
clawing into that lead and actually cut it to a mere 6 points early in the
4th quarter. Mehlville fought off the challenge and won by 50-38 (the 3rd
time this year that the Panthers beat the Tigers).Listen to this replay

…In a boys battle with neither of the two top seeds in the game, the
#3 seeded CBC and #4 Parkway West Longhorns had a great ball game on Friday.
CBC grabbed a nail-biting 51-49 win in the District 6 title game but in
the process lost the services of senior, Marcus Taylor, who suffered a knee
injury in the game.
…The Glendale Falcons, using their multiple guard lineup, continued
to pile up the points for Coach Sean Williamson. Glendale racked up 84 points
as they hustled by the Waynesville Tigers 84-59 in boys action on Friday.
…In boys district 10,class 4, Republic Tigers upset Willard 90-67
on Thursday night but dropped the Championship game to Logan Rogersville
(19-6) in a district that was really loaded with talent.
…Duchesne girls and boys won a doubleheader from the St Charles Pirates
in District 7, Class 4 games. The boys cranked out a narrow 45-43 win in
one of the best games of the night while the girls won 35-29. Hear these

…The Visitation Vivettes (10-16) surprised most observers with their
thrilling 49-44 overtime victory over the Clayton Greyhounds. Competing
in the always tough, MWAA-White division hardened the Vivettes for post
season play. Three teams from this conference won district Championships
(SJA, IWA,Viz)! The MCC boys conference also sent 3 district championship
plaques to their coffers (DeSmet, Vianney, CBC)!
… Duchesne, Lafayette Lancers , Lincoln Prep, Ozark, Blue Springs
South and Borgia all won girls and boys District Championship games this
weekend. We only have one doubleheader in sectional play-Duchesne-Borgia
all night long at Hannibal High School!
