The
20 point barrier is a yardstick for a “good game” against competitive
teams. Recently some players (not nearly as many as you might think) broke
this barrier despite the best defensive efforts of their opponent.
Connor Teahan (23 pts) led the Rockhurst Hawklets (14-1) to a hard fought
60-53 over the Jays of Jefferson City. Hawklets were a final 4 team in 2005.
Mustafa Abdul-Hamid (23 pts) hit a 3 point shot from beyond the arc at the buzzer to give the MICDS Rams their only lead of the 4th quarter in 48-47 thriller over arch rival John Burroughs. The replay of this game may be heard on www.prepcasts.com.
Hailee Parks dropped in 26 points for the Lady Eagles of Sullivan in a big tournament game recently.
Jeremy Sharpe (CBC) scored 20 points as the Cadets edged Helias 56-54 last weekend. This high flying Senior scores from all over the court.
Alex Ressel popped in 20+ recently in a win over Jackson to lead the Cape-Notre Dame team to a 14-1 mark for the year. Coming off a trip to Columbia last year, this team relies on heavy pressure to take its toll on the opponent. **Note Jackson won rematch last night 68-66.!
Luke Lambert notched 20 points for the Brookfield Bulldogs as they beat the Macon Tigers 54-48 for their 5th consecutive win. The state ranked Bulldogs have 10 wins now.
Austin Hoyer (Diamond HS) had some monster nights recently. He popped in 26 points as the Wildcats beat Miller 70-06 to elevate their record to 10-1. In a tournament, days earlier, Hoyer scored 43 points in a 83-77 win over the Seneca Indians. The Wildcats of Diamond are leading a charmed life since New Years—2 OT victories and two more wins by 2 points – WOW!
Aaron
Sparks led the Kirksville Tigers over the Hannibal Pirates 54-46 by dropping
in a game high 23 points. The Tigers are now 10-0 for the year!
Another milestone,
Brianna Culberson became the all-time leader scorer in the history of Jefferson
City Lady Jays as she now sits on 1,711 points in her career. Clearly, she’ll
be setting new standards each and every game. Brianna was a www.prepcasts.com
