of the games that had fans buzzing from Friday…
… Carthage dropped previously unbeaten Bolivar Liberators 55-14 in
a lopsided win! After losing their first 3 games against quality opponents,
the Tigers set themselves for district competition.
… Webster Groves Statesman demolished a strong Eureka Wildcat team
49-14! WG used all their muscle to dominate in this game.
… St Pius (KC) and Warrensburg kept the scoreboard operator busy in
the 48-42 win for St Pius. Each team was 5-1 entering the contest and each
displayed high-octane offense.
… Lone Jack Mules edged Holden Eagles 21-20 in a Show Me West conference
game!
…St James Tigers rode the 8 touchdowns of Chad Shockey to an easy
57-6 over So Boone in a non-conference tilt.
… Ft Zumwalt West Jaguars continued their hot streak as they knocked
Howell North from the unbeaten ranks 21-14. Both these schools are now tied
on top of GAC South standings and each have a sharp 6-1 record.
…Dexter Bearcats crushed Caruthersville Tigers 50-14 as they now lead
the SEMO North Conference after this big win!
… In a battle of two teams with 6-0 marks, the Odessa Bulldogs topped
Oak Grove Panthers 35-14 in a Missouri River Valley game.
… Ray-Pec Panthers impressively beat Grandview (KC) 52-12. Thomas
Hodges crossed the goal line 6 times for the Panthers.
… Despite being out gained 444-292, having 0 yards in passing, Skyline
Tigers whipped Strafford Indians 35-24 in Mid Lakes Conference action. The
Turnover Bug bit Strafford 5 times and was the deciding factor.
… DuBourg Cavaliers broke into the win column with a thrilling 13-10
victory over AAA foe JF Kennedy!
… Montgomery County used the strong arm of Eric Czerniewski as he
passed for 305 yards and 5 TD’s on way to a 49-14 victory over Winfield.
… Farmington stayed unbeaten with their 35-6 win over Hillsboro Hawks.
… Lee Summit West Titans coasted to a 49-20 win over the Belton Pirates
and gave notice that they are a force to be reckoned with in district play.
… Parkway South has now won 4 straight with the upset win over Lindbergh
7-6. Lindbergh went for the 2-point conversion after their score but failed.
… Rockhurst demolished a strong Liberty Bluejay team 47-7! Week after
week, the Hawklets have pummeled Missouri teams (their only defeat was to
Abilene High (TX)
… DeSmet rallied from a 21-7 halftime deficit to upend St Charles
West Warriors 28-21.
Softball playoff thoughts…
… How about Rusty Elifritz’s Howell team. Finishing 7th in conference,
seeded last in district, his Viking team won district, upset Hazelwood Central
in sectional and gave Lafayette all they could handle as they fell 2-0 to
the Lancers. The emergence of Kristen Felker on the mound was a big reason
