Quarter Final Day of the 26th Annual Wood Bat American Legion Invitational from Blue Springs Review

Rick 2010 TSWOODBAT_LOGOSaturday’s quarterfinals of the American Legion Baseball Wood Bat Invitational Tournament in Blue Springs, Missouri, heard on Prepcasts.com, move Jefferson City, Missouri, Quincy, Illinois, Post 499 Fike of Blue Springs, and Union Bank of Lincoln, Nebraska to Sunday’s final round of the tournament.

In the first quarterfinal matchup, Jefferson City took a solid 3-1 win over Dickinson, North Dakota.  Brett Jaeger had an RBI double for Jeff City in a game that took 74 minutes to play.  Click here for the replay

The second quarterfinal was a pitching duel until the Washington, Missouri got a solo home run from Noah Borgerding to take a 1-0 lead over Quincy in the bottom of the sixth inning, only to have Quincy score four runs in the top of the seventh inning to win 4-1.  Click here for the replay

In the third game, Post 499 Fike got down 3-0 after one inning to St. Peters, Missouri, but battled back for five unanswered runs to take the win 5-3.  Zack Ehlen had a two-run single to key the comeback, while the three other runs scored on St. Peters’ errors.  Kaleb Salmon survived the first inning to take the win, and Victor Schofield got the save.  Click here for the replay

In the last quarterfinal, Union Bank erupted for nine hits and an 11 run first inning to defeat Bellevue West of Nebraska 11-0.  Fifteen hitters came to the plate in the first inning for Union Bank.  Click here for the replay

The semi-finals are set for 11 a.m. on Sunday, with Jefferson City taking on Fike and Quincy playing Union Bank; the final game, scheduled for 2 p.m., will be live on Prepcasts.com with Rick Cole.  Click here for the championship game
