Rob Kodner Blog – Week 4 – Ritenour / McCluer N

It was a classic Suburban North Battle between the McCluer North Stars at 1-2
vs. the undefeated Ritenour Huskies at 3-0.  The game got off to a fast start as
the Huskies took the opening kickoff and drove the ball 63 yards in 12 plays,
capped off by a 1 yard touchdown run from quarterback Devin Alexander and
Ritenour was on top 6-0, as the extra point was missed.  The Stars took the
ensuing kickoff and proceeded to drive the ball 73 yards on 5 plays for a
touchdown that came on a 40 yard run by tailback Tevin Miller, and McCluer North
lead by one point at the end of the first quarter.  Both teams then traded punts
and each fumbled the ball over to each other.  The Stars’ fumble gave Ritenour
great field position on the Stars’ 17 yard line where they put the ball into the
end zone on 4 plays, the 2 point conversion was unsuccessful, and the Huskies took
a 12 to 7 lead into halftime.  The Stars received the second half kickoff and on
the first play from scrimmage, Senior quarterback, Demetrius Robinson, injured
his ankle and was out for the remainder of the game.  From that point on, the
Stars could not muster much of an offense as their remaining weapon, running
back Miller was held in check.  The Huskies added a 4th quarter touchdown on an
exciting wide receiver screen pass from Alexander to Crishawn Torrey that
covered 69 yards and extended the lead to 21 – 7 which ended up the be the final
score.  Ritenour remains on top of the Suburban North and headed for a collision
course with #2 ranked Hazelwood Central next week. – Click here for the game
