Ste. Genevieve, MO Football Win 2

Frank-KirchmerDefending Class 1 State Champion, Valle Catholic (Ste. Genevieve), top
ranked again this season, improved to 3-0 Saturday afternoon, with a
72-28 victory over Class 1 #2 Westran. The game, played at a neutral
site, St. Francis Borgia, in Washington, had an incredible 1189 yards of
total offense.

The Warriors Sr. Jarrod Davis ran back the opening kickoff 75 yards for
the first of 14 TD’s between the two teams on the day. Junior QB Connor
Basler threw 6 touchdown passes, completing 17-24 for 477 yards. Valle
had 644 total yards. Junior wide receiver Nick Oberle caught 3 TD passes
of 11, 41, and 52 yards, and Sr. wide out Koltyn Schilly added 2 more
covering 39 and 84 yards. Junior WR Garrett Jaegers caught an 80 yard TD
strike. Junior running back Lee Stuppy tacked on touchdown runs of 32
and 45 yards in the second half.

The Warriors led 38-20 at the half.

The Hornets had 545 yards of total offense, led by 6-4, 210 pound Sr. QB
Zane Jacoby, who completed 19 of 37 passes for 324 yards and 2
touchdowns. Jacoby added 25 carries for 114 yards and a TD on the
ground.

Valle will travel to Crystal City for a game Friday night at 7:00.

Ste. Genevieve, down to their 4th string QB because of injuries, rallied
for a 35-16 win at New Madrid County Friday night. The Dragons (2-1)
grabbed an early 14-0 lead on touchdown runs of 20 and 8 yards by Luke
Gettinger. The Senior had 24 carries for 135 yards. Junior fullback
Austin Brewer added 22 carries for 111 yards. Ste. Gen had 288 yards of
total offense and got an exceptional performance from their offensive
line.

The Dragons went to a power wishbone formation for the game and threw
the ball only twice with one completion. That was out of punt formation
late, helping SG put the game away. Gettinger scored what proved to be
the winning TD late in the 3rd quarter on a 1 yard run, giving the
Dragons a 22-16 advantage following a 2 point conversion.

Sophomore cornerback Logan Rhinehart clinched the victory with 2
interceptions for touchdowns (38 and 55 yards) in the final 3 minutes.
Rhinehart now has 3 pick 6’s this season. The Ste. Gen defense held the
Eagles(0-3) to 122 yards of total offense.
