STG Dragons continue to Fire it UP by Frank Kirchmer

ste genSte. Genevieve (4-1) continued their split back veer dominating run game
Friday night, piling up 278 yards rushing, in a 35-7 Mississippi Area
Conference White Division win over Fredericktown (0-5).

The Dragons scored first following a fumble recovery by Anthony Roe at
the Black Cat 37. Ste. Gen took 11 plays to put it in the end zone with
Austin Brewer going the final yard for a 6-0 lead and 5:31 left in the
opening quarter.

The Dragons added a second touchdown 3 minutes later following a punt as
Jr. QB Wyatt Lalumandier found Soph. WR Gabe Greminger for a 63 yard TD
pass and a 12-0 lead with 2:28 remaining in the 1st quarter.

The Cats Matt Williams picked off a Lalumandier pass and returned it to
the Dragon 32. It took Fredericktown 6 plays to score their only
touchdown on the night as QB Cody Smith hit Brendan White for the TD
from 25 yards out and it was 12-7 with 7:24 left in the half.

The Dragons went on a 10 play, 65 yard drive, late in the half, and put
it in the end zone on a 2 yard Anthony Roe run. Roe added the two point
conversion with 2:18 left in the half and a 20-7 halftime lead.

Ste. Genevieve put the game away with two 3rd quarter scores.
Lalumandier found Dalton Giesler on 4th and 19 from 24 yards away to
culminate a 10 play, 89 yard drive, with 4:51 remaining in the 3rd, and
a 28-7 lead following the Roe 2 point run.

The final TD came with just :49 left in the 3rd on a 6 play, 60 yard
drive, as Austin Brewer scored his 2nd TD on a 35 yard run.

Lalumandier was 5-12 for 139 yards as the Dragons had 417 yards of total
offense. Brewer finished with 125 yards rushing and Roe added 106 behind
an outstanding effort by the SG offensive line.

Ste. Gen held the Cats to only 52 yards of 2nd half offense and 200 for
the game, 117 on the ground. The Dragons forced 3 Fredericktown
turnovers.

Ste. Gen will have a showdown with undefeated Park Hills Central (5-0)
Friday night at Dragons Stadium. You can hear the game LIVE on Prepcasts
