Tony Floyd Blog – Week 2 – Lindbergh/McCluer N

The excitement was in the air for the Lindbergh Flyers home opener. It was parents night. The Flyers were introduced and escorted onto the field. The Flyers lost their home opener to McCluer North by the score of 30 to 29. Special team  play and turnovers were the keys to the victory for McCluer North. We saw some great plays from both teams, but the Stars were able to take advantage of the Flyer turnovers by scoring two touchdowns. The Stars also made two safeties against the Flyers. The second one in the forth quarter gave them a 1 point lead. The Flyers had one last drive in the 4th quarter, but with only 35 seconds left on the clock and no times outs; it just wasn’t enough time. We saw Harry Ballard of the Stars return a punt for a touchdown. Reggie Paige of the Stars intercepted the ball and returned it for a touchdown. Garrett Krueger of the Flyers returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. The Stars were able to rush for 348 yards off 64 carries. Garrett Krueger of the Flyers was the Lion’s Choice 212 Athlete of the Game, and Demetrius Robinson of the Stars was the Custom Shirt Graphics Standout player of the game.
