Tony Floyd Blog – Week 3 – Lindbergh / Oakville

Pink as far as the eye could see. The color pink usually is not associated with a football game. It was pink out night at Flyers Field. A night to show support for a cure for cancer. Not only would this be a district game but both teams have a lot of history. It would be the Oakville Tigers vs the Lindbergh Flyers. Both teams came in with one win and one loss. Each team had lost real close games the week before. Although Chuck Houska for the Flyers was able the get back on track passing,  the Flyers were not able to slow down the running as well as the passing of the Tigers. Chuck Houska completed 16 passes for 251 yards and 3 touchdowns. Andy Oliver of the Tigers completed 19 passes for 230 yards and also had 3 touchdowns. Andy also carried the ball 24 times and had 88 rushing yards. Kyle Hearn of the Tigers had 29 carries for 149 yards. The Flyers and Tigers traded scoring up until the 4th quarter. The score was 21 to 21 going into the forth quarter. Each team had scored a touchdown in each of the previous quarters. Lindbergh added another touchdown with 11:19 left in the forth to go up 28 to 21. Chuck Houska had thrown his third touchdown pass to Logan Offner. It was a 34 yard pass. With 7:19 left in the fourth Kyle Hearn had a 1 yard touchdown run. The Tigers would miss the extra point. The score would be 27-28 in favor of the Flyers. The Flyers offense came onto the field and had a three and out, putting their worn out defense right back on the field. With 4:31 left on the clock Andy Oliver completed a 34 yard touchdown pass to Carvon Robinson. The Tigers went for the two point conversion but failed. The score was 33 to 28 in favor of the Tigers. The Tigers would be able to hold onto the lead and win the game. While the passing yardage and touchdowns were close, the rushing yards was very far apart. With 56 attempts for the Tigers they had 257 net yards and the Flyers had 22 attempts for 11 net yards. Chuck Houska and Andy Oliver each were The Lion’s Choice 212 Athlete of the Game, and Kyle Hearn was the Custom Shirt Graphics Standout player of the game. I would like to give a shout out to Garrett Krueger for having 12 solo tackles on defense and catching 6 passes for 143 yards on offense.
