Valle Catholic Continues to Roll

Frank-KirchmerValle Catholic of Ste. Genevieve improved their record to 8-0, 5-0 in
the I-55 Conference, with a 37-0 win over Herculaneum Friday night at
soggy Fr. John Dempsey Field.

The top-ranked Class 1 Warriors jumped out to a 23-0 lead after a
quarter and coasted to the victory. Jr. wide receiver, Garrett Jaegers,
caught 3 touchdown passes of 27, 29, and 14 yards from Jr. QB Connor
Basler as Valle increased their lead to 30-0 at the half. Jaegers
finished with 4 catches for 103 yards. Basler was 9-19 with the slick
football for 171 yards and 4 TD passes. He also had 8 carries for 60
yards and a TD as the Warriors totaled 269 yards on the ground.

The Blackcats, who fell to 5-3, finished with 133 yards of total
offense, 105 rushing. Their deepest penetration was the Valle 29 in the
first half following a 66 yard kickoff return.

The Warriors will close their regular season Friday night at St. Pius in
Festus. The Lancers are 6-2, 5-0 in Conference play, so the game will
decide the I-55 Conference Championship.

Ste. Genevieve (5-3) rolled over DeSoto (1-7), 43-7, on Homecoming
Night. Jr. running back Austin Brewer scored 3 touchdowns for the
Dragons. They will make the long trip to the bootheel for a game at
Caruthersville (5-3) Friday night. You can hear that game on Prepcasts
