Valle Football Streak Continues by Frank Kirchmer

Class 1 Valle Catholic (Ste. Genevieve) rolled to a 76-7 home win over
Crystal City (2-2) Friday night.

The Warriors Nick Oberle returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a TD
only to see the Hornets QB Logan Grove hit WR Zach Cheaney with a 91
yard TD strike on Crystal City’s first play from scrimmage for a 7-7 tie
just :31 seconds into the game.

It was all Valle (4-0) for the rest of the half, as the Warriors totaled
522 yards of first half offense. Basler threw TD passes of 66 yards to
Cole Wood, 43 yards to Oberle, a pair of 4 yarders to Garrett Jaegers,
and 56 and 9 yard strikes to Cole Keeley. Jaegers, who returned to the
lineup for the first time since being injured in last year’s State
Championship game with a torn labrum, caught 5 passes for 70 yards.

Basler also scored on a one yard run, and RB Tristan Huck had a 47 yard
gallop to the house, as the Warriors built a 63-7 halftime lead. Kicker
Devon Kutz was 9-9 on extra points. RB Blake Pennell tacked on a 36 yard
TD run in the 2nd half and freshman Trenton Linderer added a 6 yard
score on the ground.

Valle totaled 272 yards rushing on the night, nearly 11 yards a carry,
and Basler was 10-13 for 261 yards in a balanced attack of 533 total
yards. Basler has already thrown 18 TD passes in 4 games.

Sr. linebacker Kurtis Meyer led all Warrior defenders with 11 total
tackles, a QB sack, 3 tackles for losses and a fumble recovery. Valle
held the Hornets to -15 yards rushing and 101 yards passing, 91 on one
play, for 86 yards of total offense, and 2 first downs.

Valle Catholic, winners now of 34 straight over 3 years, will travel to
Grandview (1-3) Friday night.

Ste. Genevieve Sr. QB Wyatt Lalumandier ran for 168 yards and 2 TD’s and
threw for 2 more TD’s as the Dragons (3-1) broke open a tight game late
for a 41-19 win Friday night at previously undefeated Potosi (3-1).

Ste. Gen will be at Fredericktown (0-4) next Friday night in a game you
