A triad of games kicked off the new high school football season on the Prepcasts-KCMW network last weekend. In the featured games of the week, the Butler Bears traveled to Adrian to meet their rivals, and rolled the Blackhawks, dominating throughout en route to a 32-14 victory. The Bears scored first and often, allowing only a second quarter and third quarter Adrian score to make the game closer than it played out. Senior RB Devan Loveall scored four touchdowns for the Bears, after switching back to the veer offense, following one year running the spread. The Bears match their season win total from all last year with the win to start the year against a non-conference foe.
The KC Area Game of the Week featured one of the favorites in Class 5 as the Fort Osage Indians hosted the upstart Raytown South Cardinals. The Indians would start sluggish, lose multiple players to injury, including big recruit Skylar Thompson, but fight back to snatch the opening week win, 27-14, behind a strong 2 TD performance from wideout Donte Dodson.
