WEMO Week 2 in Football

damonIn the WEMO game of the week, the Osceola Indians, ranked #7 in Class 1, bounced back after a tough road loss to newly ranked #4 Cass-Midway last week to hammer the Appleton City Bulldogs 40-8.  Appleton City took the opening kick and gambled on a fourth down play going for it.  Twice successful last week against Drexel proved twice unsuccessful on this evening, and short fields sandwiched around a safety put the Indians up 16-0 quickly.  They would never look back, as senior QB Driston Self rushed the first score in, and threw three subsequent TD tosses, each to a different teammate to swell a locker room lead of 30-0.  Only one field goal was added in the third quarter as senior Drew Carney made one of his three efforts.  Each team would trade TD scores in the final frame with the Indians prevailing on the road.  Click here for the replay …
Adrian had another strong showing after trouncing Butler last week on the road against Drexel.  A scoreless tie was vanquished with four Hawk touchdowns in the third quarter that would prove to be the only points in the ballgame as the Bobcats fell on their home field to Adrian, 28-0.  Midway stays atop the conference drilling Archie at home 52-0 as the Whirlwinds still seek their first points of the young season.  The lone non-con game of the week for the WEMO saw Rich Hill travel to one-time WEMO foe, Lockwood, where the southern Tigers got the home win over Rich Hill 27-14 to keep them winless.
Also on the network, Butler traveled to Sherwood to meet the Marksmen in Crossroads Conference action.  Despite close throughout this one, the Bears would fall short never leading in the contest to undefeated Sherwood by a final of 21-12.  The Bears now sit at 0-2.  Click here for the replay …
