Offensive Shootout sees Howell Central continue winning Ways!

In a game that saw almost 1000 yards of total offense, the Howell Central Spartans upended the Ft Zumwalt West Jaguars 56-31. The wild 2nd quarter saw 38 total points scored! It was the first win over the Jags for the Spartans in over a decade in this Gateway Athletic South Contest. Central, enjoying a terrific season as they push their record to 5-2, piled up 374 rushing yards and 172 yards through the air on the way to the win. Kendall Morris crossed the goal line four times for Howell Central while gaining 175 yards on the ground. But he wasn’t the leading rusher for the Spartans! QB Brody Allen rushed for 194 yards while passing for 172 yards (in just 6 completions–6 of 9). West QB was also outstanding. Jag Jake Strauss threw for 166 yards while running for 151 yards in the loss.  FZW gained 256 yards on the ground and 156 through the air, thus racking up 412 total yards. The fire heats up even more in the next two weeks for Howell Central. Next week, it’s Class 6, #2 ranked Francis Howell (6-1), who hasn’t been pushed by ANY Missouri team all year long. Their only loss was to Elder Ohio 34-21. In the final week of regular season, Central faces the 6-1 Jackson Indians. However, the Spartans will enjoy the win over Ft Zumwalt West and hope that the win will move them into the top ten of the STATE, Class 6 as the Jags (4-3) were ranked #10 prior to the game.
