The Prepcasts Broadcasting Network Promotes MDA

MDA logoThis would be the weekend that you would always stay up late and watch Jerry Lewis do his annual fundraising on his telethon.  With his retirement the torch has been passed to the communities and to us.

The Prepcasts Broadcasting Network will try to do their part to keep this need alive this weekend.  We will be promoting what MDA is doing in the Kansas City area on those broadcasts and what St. Louis is doing with the KSDK-TV mini telethon on the east side of the state broadcasts.

Here is a link about the Kansas City Lock-UP … and a link about the telethon …

The broadcasts will also be presenting PSA’s from celebrities during the broadcasts as well.

Thanks for those that have already supported MDA and please give what you can when the Firefighter’s come around with their boots this weekend.

Quick Snapshot of Week 1 – MO High School Football

Bob-RyanQuick Snapshot of Week 1 – MO High School Football

…with the season opening August 22, the 1st round of District will be prior to Halloween. That means half the STATE will be finished on October 24th ! I guess the basketball coaches are happy that they’ll be seeing some of their players done with football so early !

…Scoring in the last 14 seconds of the game, Soldan rallied to beat Priory 24-21. With Priory up 21-16, Terry Graham hauled in a 50 yard pass from Ronald Clower and added the 2-point conversion to win this non-conference game. Clower was 18 of 28 for 242 yards and all three TD’s

…highest scoring total of the night—123 total points—Lee Summit 81 Truman 42 !!!

…Eureka’s defense prevented a 2-point conversion late in the game as Eureka won the battle of Rockwood 17-15 at Lafayette. Click here for the replay …

…ALL 5 of the Mississippi Blue Conference teams won their opening game! Fredericktown, Maplewood R-H, Ste Genevieve, Park Hills Central & Perryville finished the night smiling!

…Savannah Savages had a much tougher time of it than they expected as they beat an improved Grain Valley Eagle team 19-15. The Savages were a STATE semifinalist last year while the Eagles saw their #1 QB go down in the Jamboree event the week prior to this game.

…leading scorer of the night on the East side of the STATE was Brentwood’s Jacob Clay. Clay scored 5 touchdowns in the first 3 quarters as the Eagles romped past Crystal City 61-26. Clay scored four of his TD’s on runs of 37+ yards.

…in the “some things never seem to change” category—check out these familiar type scores–Webb City 21 Carthage 0; Valle Catholic 56 St Vincent 0

…St Mary’s Dragons scored twice in the 4th quarter to edge Gateway STAM Jaguars 14-13. The Jags scored their 2nd TD with 2 minutes remaining but failed to convert the PAT. The PAT attempt was taken on four attempts (3 penalties) and a missed kick from the 19 yard line. Link to their schedule

….Other 1 point games in the STATE were: St Pius (Festus) 27 So. Boone 26; Perryville 13 Sumner 12; Odessa 21 St Pius X 20

…Collin Scott (St Clair) galloped 99 yards for a TD but the Bulldogs fell to the Washington Bluejays 26-21. The unusual total of 26 was reached, in part, due to a safety late in the 1st half when St Clair’s punter missed a snap and was tackled in the end zone.

…QB Shane Barret (Ft Zumwalt East) had quite an opening night. He passed for 338 yards and 3 TD’s while scoring the other 2 TD’s in the 35-7 victory over Howell Central. Barrett hit on two 90 yard TD passes and a 65 yard strike in the 1st & 3rd quarters.

The Rockwood Sports Network Starts with a Bang

Tyler PosloskyWith 22 seconds remaining in the game, the Eureka defense denied Lafayette of a game-tying two-point conversion, and the Wildcats triumphed 17-15 Friday night in front of a jam-packed crowd at Lafayette High School.

Both offenses struggled in the early stages of the tilt, failing to find any rhythm, much less consistency.

The Lancers struck first thanks to bad snap on a late-first quarter punt attempt by Eureka.

On fourth and long from inside their own 40 yard line, Eureka deep snapper Mason Brooks fired a high snap that sailed over the head of punter Bo Highful.

Lafayette recovered, and moments later Cameron Scales threw his first touchdown pass of the season. The extra-point attempt was no good, but the Lancers had a 6-0 lead.

Eureka answered the bell on its next possession when Brett Geisz connected with Bobby Saunders for a long touchdown, giving the visitors a 7-6 lead.

Highful extended the Wildcats’ lead to 10-6 with a 44-yard field goal in the third quarter.

Geisz extended the lead with a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to make it a 17-6 game.

The Lancers rallied with a 35-yard field goal from Jake Reynolds, then drove the length of the field in the final two minutes to make it a two-point game.

But the Wildcats stuffed Scales’ from the 2-yard line in the waning seconds to seal the victory.

Both teams combined for 20 penalties for nearly 200 yards. Eureka was penalized 12 times for 140 yards in a game that lasted over three hours.  Check out the replay …

Eureka plays at Oakville next Friday. The Tigers play at Parkway South Saturday. Lafayette (0-1) takes on Hazelwood Central next Saturday.
