Northwest Homecoming Takes a Hit

Kyle Luetters Screen Shot 2014-09-03 at 1.07.32 PMIn week four of area High School football action, the Park Hills Central Rebels traveled to House Springs, Missouri for a showdown with the Lions of Northwest High. In the end, the Rebels proved to be too much as they handed the Lions their third loss of the season by besting them, 40-0, on homecoming night.

Coming into the matchup, the Rebels were riding a three game winning streak while the Lions were looking to get back to .500 after a 1-2 start to the year.

Even with the tandem of Minor Strong and Brad Peeples at running back, the Lions offense stalled early and watched as the Rebels blocked a punt, which turned into early points. That tone, set early, would follow the Lions throughout the game as they often had trouble gaining positive yardage on the ground.

Rebel Running backs Brandon Mayberry and Drew Harlow completed highlight worthy, 20+ yard runs for touchdowns as quarterback Jake Bridges connected with receiver Braydon Manion on numerous occasions for spectacular plays.

It is worth mentioning that the two teams drew a combined 26 penalites, which is sure to be a coaching point in practice this week.
