The Warriors, 12-time State Champions in their storied history, fell
behind 7-0 and 14-7 Saturday. It was only the second time all season
they have trailed in a game.

Valle bounced back to score two first quarter touchdowns on a 22 yard
pass from Jr. QB Connor Basler to Jr. WR Garrett Jaegers and a Basler 3
yard run. The Tigers had scored following the 7th interception of the
season by Jr. Drew Flagg, returned to the Valle 29, as Jr. QB Dylan
Mountain hit Jr. WR Madison Davis on a 7 yard TD reception. Mountain
followed with a 61 yard TD run to give his team a 14-7 lead with 4:05 to
go in the first quarter.

Valle grabbed a 21-14 lead when Jaegers took a jet sweep handoff and
went 28 yards for the go ahead TD with 10:00 remaining in the half.
Basler and Jaegers then teamed up for a 29 yard spectacular throw and
catch with 3:31 left in the half, culminating a 4 play-62 yard drive,
and a 28-14 Warrior advantage.

The Warriors then took advantage of back to back Tiger fumbles and
scored on a 14 yard run by Soph RB Tristan Huck and a Basler 5 yard run
before the half ended to take a 41-14 lead into the locker room. Valle
scored the 3 TD’s in a space of a minute and 37 seconds. Skyline had 6
turnovers on the afternoon.

The Tigers, who finished the day with 451 yards of offense, added 2 more
touchdowns in the 2nd half on a Mountain 7 yard run and a Mountain to
Flagg 7 yard pass. Mountain had 20 carries for 196 yards and threw for
140 more.

Jaegers ended his remarkable day with a pick 6 of 52 yards with 4:33 to
go for his 4th TD of the game. Basler scored his third TD on a 1 yard
run. Valle ended the game with 400 yards even total offense, 291 on the
ground. Huck had 16 carries for 128 yards and Basler 17 for 84.

The Warriors look for their 30th straight win in the Class 1 State
Championship game against Westran (13-1) Friday at 4:15 at the Edward
Jones Dome in St. Louis. They are also trying to win their 4th State
Title in the last 5 years.

Valle handed Westran (Huntsville) their only loss September 6th in a
neutral site game at St. Francis Borgia in Washington, 72-28. The
Hornets beat Missouri all-time rushing leader Kellen Overstreet and
Penney, 48-39, Friday night, in the other semifinal. Westran is led by
Sr. QB Zane Jacoby, who has thrown for 2,515 yards and run for 2,390
yards this season.
